Clinical Evaluation of Cefmetazole in Surgical Field

Abstract
|
|
|
Cefmetazole (CS-1170) for parenteral use, a new antibiotic of cephalosporin series with marked resistance to Beta-lactamase, was used in 27 patients hospitalized due to surgical infection, 7 with generalized peritonitis, 14 with wound abscess, 6 with burn.
Cefmetazole in a dose of lgm-2gm/day was administered intravenously, and markedly effective 14 patients and moderately effective in 11 patients, However, no response was obtained in the rest 2 patients.
No clinical side effects were encountered thorughout the course of treatment.
